Artist Steal
1. What new skills did you learn or what did you improve on? I learned how to mesh two different things into one picture. In my first sketch I drew Courage the Cowardly Dog with a light saber. I was mixing Star Wars with a cartoon and learning how to make multiple topics flow into one piece of art. In my first umbrella sketch I had been inspired by something very similar on Pinterest. I used what I had learned about stealing work from other artists and what I learned about mixing two things to make my finalized drawing.
2. How has your thinking about what original art is changed? My view of original art has changed because I know longer think anything is truly original. There's just too many people in the world for anyone to ever make something that's never been tried before. It's important to understand that you can steal an idea from someone, but that you need to adapt it and make your own version. If you not only use someone's idea, but also do it the same way then you are just copying their work.
3. What challenges or successes did you have during this unit? Would you change anything if you could go back and re-do it? I was challenged with coming up with creative ideas. It was doubly hard because I had to come up with two ideas for one picture. I liked that it challenged me, but if I could go back and re-do it, I would maybe try to experiment with more colors and make my work more even.
